Tom Swan caught fire Saturday and shot a fine 74 to top the field of Inferno Cup competitors. He was steady with fourteen pars, three bogeys and a birdie to earn 326.6 points and jumped seven places in the standings. With five matches remaining, Swan has moved into contention for the money spots.
The golfers played a modified Stableford on the Arroyo/Lakes course. Bill Petsas fell one point short of Swan. Loren Molever finished third.
- Tom Swan – 74
- Mike Nichols and Bailey Ogrin – 75
- Tom Swan – 66
- Bill Petsas – 68
- Loren Molever and Mike Miller – 70
Other than the performances of Tom Swan and Jon Gruenhagen, all of the numbers fell pretty much into the range of “normal”. Scores averaged three strokes over handicap. The only real statistical anomaly comes from the fact that no one birdied #9 Lakes. Despite what the scorecard says, when playing from the green tees, that’s really little more than a tough par four. But stranger things have (and will) happened.
